I can't believe how early it gets dark these days! Since the time change, it seems we barely even have light for an hour after the kids get home from school. For some reason this does not help me get dinner ready any earlier, but we have been trying to make sure we at least finish eating before 7:00.
Ryan and I had a most enjoyable getaway for our 10th wedding anniversary. Jenny & Brent took our 4 younger kids while we spent 2 nights at a condo at Bear Lake. I think it has been YEARS since we have had a night away completely alone, it was AWESOME!! Andrew spent the first night with a friend, then had a scout campout the second night we were away. The other kids enjoyed their time with Jenny, and Jenny enjoyed at least most of her time with the kids :-) It was a really relaxing weekend for Ryan and I, and it was hard to get "back to work" when we got home on Saturday. THANKS so much to Jenny & Brent for letting us use their timeshare up at Bear Lake!!

The next weekend we were lucky enough to have good weather to take some pictures out by the Great Salt Lake. We had a few that turned out nice and will try to send some out with Christmas cards this year. I have also pasted them here as well.

Adalyn, unfortunately, was not cooperating as she could not run all around and had to be carried most of the time. Once we returned home, and she regained her freedom, I got a really cute picture of her on our front porch!
Ashley entered this year's Reflections Program at school and won a trophy for the dance she choreographed. I have a picture of the trophy, but it probably would have been better to actually have Ashley holding it.

For Thanksgiving we spent 2 nights at a condo in Ogden Canyon. My brother Dave was with us for both nights. Jenny, Brent & Ammon joined us Thanksgiving day and spent the night Thursday. Friday they headed down early in order to prepare for opening night of "A Christmas Carol," the play they are both in. As Mary had to work Thanksgiving day, she and Frank, Anna and Rob joined us for lunch on Friday. We visited for awhile before we headed home Friday afternoon. Mary, Frank and their kids were able to enjoy Friday night with the condo all to themselves. Most of our Thanksgiving dinner was prepared by me and, if I might add, it turned out really yummy! Jenny made some really yummy pies, a blackberry cream pie, caramel apple pie and pistachio. She also brought a big frog-eye salad and juice. Good Stuff!!
Three days after Thanksgiving, Ryan gave a talk in church. This is one of his most dreaded assignments, but he did well and, with his preparation, had plenty of material to talk for several minutes. He is quite "Thankful" that he is done with that and hoping they won't call him again for another 5 or 6 years!!
Tonight is the Christmas party at our church and I am quite excited not to have to cook dinner! I am also excited not to be involved in the planning or preparation of this event, since I have since been released from my "activities committee" calling.
It sounds like our next door neighbors have finally sold their house, and just in time too, as their house should be ready to move in this weekend. However, there are still two more houses for sale in our neighborhood, if you know anyone who is looking. First is a house directly down our block, which is just 2 houses down from our park, info on this one at http://www.utahrealestate.com/751681 The other house for sale is directly behind us and has been vacant for a year now. A lot of work was done to fix it up on the inside, then the people who bought it last year ended up just walking away from it. So, it has taken a year to go through the whole process with the bank and auction, etc., but it is now on the market again. Info on this one at http://www.utahrealestate.com/748824 The yard on this one will need some work, as it went through the whole summer without water, but the inside still seems to be in great shape!
We are still planning on Christmas in California and everyone is looking forward to that, although Austyn is a little worried that Santa won't know where we are.
We finally got snow this past week and temps have been much cooler since then, ranging in the upper 30s to low 40s. The kids were excited for the snow and spent most of the day outside in it. It looks like we have another storm on the horizon, set to come in Friday/Saturday, just in time for Austyn's birthday. So, I guess I'll have to think of a lot of fun things to do indoors for his party.

The girls have an upcoming Christmas dance performance on December 20th and have been practicing with their classes twice a week in preparation. It looks like that will be a busy week as we are preparing to leave town. With the dance performance on Thursday, then a Christmas get-together with Ryan's family, as well as a birthday celebration for Em & Nate's son Darien, on Saturday. Hopefully we will be able to get things ready and leave as planned on Sunday afternoon.
I have finally been able to get all my work loaded onto our laptop computer and functioning well, so it will be a lot easier to take my work with me when we head out of town. That will be very helpful this year!
Well, I need to go to the bank, the library, the post office and the grocery store this morning, so I better get going so I can get back to work.
If I don't post again before then, I hope you have a Very Merry Christmas and an Awesome New Year! Thanks for stopping by!! Julie :-)
