We had an enjoyable 4th of July. My brother David and my sister Evy were both here and went with us to a family BBQ, after which we watched the Magna parade just 2 blocks away from our house. Addie was really excited about the horses in the parade. We ended up with quite a bit of candy, probably more so because we were sitting right at the beginning of the parade route. I was able to work for a couple hours in the afternoon while Adalyn took a nap and the other kids enjoyed some water play at a friend's house.
I picked them up and dropped Alexia off for another BBQ just before 6:00 p.m. Around 8:30 I went down to the church to set up our "spot" on the grass to watch the fireworks. I took a few extra lawn chairs to strategically place in about 4 parking spaces, so no last-minute watchers would park there and block our view. Then I went back home for another 45 minutes before everyone else was ready to walk down for the show. By this time, Evy and David had gone up to Clearfield to watch a play with Jenny & Brent. Kelsi and Rusty had joined us, working on laundry and studying. Clayton had come over while the kids were gone and took a nap. Ryan's mom was also here. Ryan was luckily able to make it home right around 7:00 p.m., so he was able to spend the evening with us. Andrew has been at scout camp all week, so he missed out on our holiday happenings. We met up with some friends at the church to watch the fireworks and the kids had fun running around and playing while we waited for the show to start. The fireworks display lasted for almost 30 minutes and was nothing spectacular, but we don't mind because it's just SOOOOO Convenient!! They did happen to set a hill on fire, however, so that was a little interesting to watch that fire spread while they finished the show. The fire was still burning as we walked home, so I was interested to see the damage when I got up this morning. There were still a few hot spots smoldering when I drove by this a.m. and still quite a bit of smoke. Apparently it wasn't big enough to be "breaking news" and I have yet to see any mention of it on the local news stations this morning. So, today is Saturday. Ryan is again working all day and we are expecting Andrew home from scout camp anytime now. After my sincere efforts in working throughout the holiday, yesterday, I was quite disappointed to find I am still 2 days behind for this pay period. With the kids out of school and so many "projects" around the house and yard, I really have a hard time focusing on just my work. I have been trying to keep our grass alive, what's left of it, and have taken some time changing sprinkler heads and rotating sprinklers, trying to get those dry spots. The dog has been pretty smelly lately, which has become another project. I have seriously bathed him 3 times this week already. I spent an hour or two on Wednesday, shaving and bathing him, hoping the shorter hair would help, but it just doesn't last. He will smell fine when he comes in for the evening, but by morning he is smelly again. I have washed his bed as well, but the improvement was only temporary. I think I will be heading to Petsmart soon, to get a deodorizing shampoo, as well as a leave in deodorizing spray, and hopefully this will do the trick.
One positive thing for the week was an evening out with Ryan, without the kids. As Evelyn did not have any other plans Thursday evening, she agreed to baby-sit for us so we could have an evening out. We left here around 5:00 p.m. We first went to look around at RC Willey for a while, looking at things we never knew we always wanted :-) Then we went to Olive Garden for dinner and it was only a 5-minute wait at 6:00 in the evening. Thinking about it now, this makes more sense as it was a Thursday evening, not a Friday or Saturday. After dinner we walked around the mall, as we never go to the mall and there just happened to be one right there. We were quickly reminded why we never go to the mall, everything is just too expensive, but we enjoyed the walk. We then went to Old Navy and TJ Max and found a couple pairs of shorts for Ryan, as well as a couple of hats (for much less than the mall). So basically, mission accomplished for the evening. The kids were all in bed when we got home - Thanks Evy!! - so we had some ice cream then went to bed, as Ryan had to be up for work at 4:30 the next morning. It was a very enjoyable evening.
The house next door is now for sale. (North of us) I have not yet seen it listed online, but they told me they were asking $165,000. The yard is beautiful and the house is in good shape. The elderly widow who was living there is no longer able to stay there on her own, so her kids have finally decided to put it up for sale. The house has had a few updates, but it is in need of several others. It has a classic blue bathroom, blue tub, blue sink, lots of blue, was that a 70s thing? The kitchen cabinets have been updated. The heating system is really old, but it still works. However, it would probably need to be replaced if you wanted to upgrade to central air conditioning. Right now there is a swamp cooler, but that would probably need to be replaced as well. There is a nice patio in the back, and a 2-car garage. There is also a fireplace upstairs and downstairs, and a bar in the family room downstairs. I will post a link for more information, as soon as it is listed online.
Tomorrow we are planning to go to Orem for the blessing of Melissa Jean Mayo. After that, Andrew will leave with Evelyn to California for a month. We will sure miss our babysitter, but he would probably be bored if he stayed here. He really likes to spend time with his uncles out there during the summer, especially since he can no longer go with us during the elementary kids' off-track time in the winter.
Well, Addie is up from her nap now and she must be hungry, so I better figure out what's for dinner.

Hi Julie! Lots of goings-on for you, as always, I see. Do you thrive on a packed schedule? I don't think I'll be seeing Andrew since I'm not in your mom's ward any more. That's great that he can come spend time down here with his uncles!
