I guess I spoke too soon yesterday and jinxed myself. Instead of finishing up my work in the next couple hours after posting my blog, I ended up spending the next 4 hours taking Austyn to the emergency room to get stitches in his forehead. :( Apparently, he was climbing in the apple tree when he went to swing from a rope that was tied to the tree. Unfortunately, the rope was not tied very tight and came off, sending him head first into a rock. Ouch!! He came in the back door screaming, with blood dripping down his face. Once the blood was cleaned up a bit, I could see that this "hole" in his head was definitely in need of professional help. Austyn had apparently been concerned about his mental status after such a blow to the head, so he had tested himself on his "plusses?" on his way in from the backyard. He was a little concerned because at first he told himself that 2 + 2 = 8. Luckily, by the time he got to me, he knew that 4 + 4 = 8. Thank Goodness!! :) The Tylenol was helping by the time we got to the ER and Austyn was feeling better, but a little self conscious about other "patients" seeing the hole in his head. After we were all checked in, with a numbing solution applied, Austyn and I left the hospital for Wendy's for some dinner while we were waiting, as they estimated about a 90-minute wait for a room. Once we were back in our room, the doctor was really nice and Austyn did a great job holding still while she fixed him up. He ended up with 2 deep stitches and 4 stitches on top. I did take a couple pictures of the wound, with my camera phone, so I can email them to you if you're curious. They really aren't great quality, but you can get a better idea of what it looks like .
Anyway, so much for my great plans and potential for getting all my work done. Next time, I'll just have to tell ya'll about it after the fact instead. Or, maybe it will work the opposite . . . . . so far I haven't started on my work today and it is already 10:00. I anticipate not getting very much work done this afternoon as I will be watching my nieces and nephew. So, it will probably be a late night. (we'll see what happens ;)
