It's been a week long Birthday for Alexia this past week. We started with a family party last Sunday, June 4th, and were joined by grandparents, aunts and uncles. It was that day we heard the exciting news that Ryan's sister Emily is expecting, due December 26th. We are really excited and looking forward to our first cousin on Ryan's side of the family.
Monday, June 5th, was Alexia's "official" birthday (she is 6 this year). Since we had already given her presents the day before, this day was just celebrated by going to the bank to cash her birthday checks from grandparents and then later with a birthday dinner at McDonald's. Tuesday Ryan took Alexia to the store to spend her birthday money.
Wednesday we went up Milcreek Canyon with Ryan's good friends Matt & Mandi and their new baby Shelby. We roasted hot dogs and had a fun picnic. Unfortunately, the van started driving really bad on the way down. I was able to get it to a known shop just out of the canyon and left it there to get fixed. It turned out to be the a/c compressor that needed to be replaced to get the van running again. (Not excited about that news, though nice to have the A/C back.)
The kids started back to school on Thursday then finished off the week with a half day on Friday. Friday evening (for Alexia's birthday) Ryan's sister Kelsi took Alexia, Ashley and Andrew for a sleepover and some fun activities. The kids came home around noon on Saturday, just in time to get ready for Alexia's "friend" birthday party at 1:30. Since it was an all girl party we beaded bracelets and made necklaces. Then they opened presents, had ice cream cones and cupcakes, and played with the new birthday stuff. My sister JennyLyn was so kind to make the cupcakes and come down to help out since Ryan was working. Things seemed to work out well and Alexia had quite a fun birthday week. It's definitely been a busy week but we should have a little break from planning parties until Andrew's birthday in August.
Sunday was a much calmer day and Ryan and the kids let me sleep in. The extra sleep was much needed and appreciated and made for a good afternoon and evening for me.
Now it's Monday morning and we are starting a new week, it's only 10:00 AM and Alexia has already been playing with friends for the last hour-and-a-half. Just three more weeks of school for the kids before their "summer vacation" (if you can call a three week break a vacation:-). I suppose that's all for now, as my distractions are increasing by the second. Thanks for coming by!!! Julie
